Rev. Terrell McTyer
Minister of New Church Strategies for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Pastor Terrell L McTyer serves as the Minister of New Church Strategies for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. He is the founding pastor of Manifestation Christian Center (Kansas City, MO) which was an innovative, cause-driven gathering of young people steeped in unique tactics for discipleship, social enterprise and leadership development. Today, Terrell works to teach, equip, assist and multiply leaders through the New Church Ministry with an aim to increase missional efficacy and efficiency towards starting sustainable, world-changing churches and making disciples. His mission is to equip leaders to equip leaders.
Rev. McTyer’s leadership experience, skills and giftings include work in music, marketing, entrepreneurship, project management and more in the both corporate and non-profit sectors.
Rev. Sandy Messick
Transitional Regional Minister and President, Northern Lights Region, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
Rev. Sandra Morgan Messick was called to be Transitional Regional Minister and President of the Northern Lights Region beginning in January of 2020.
Rev. Messick holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from San Diego State University (1985) and a Master of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis (cum laude, 1990). Her publications include a sermon in Bread Afresh, Wine Anew: Sermons by Disciples Women (1991), “Partners in Prayer,” Advent Devotional Booklet, (1999) and various church school curricula published through Christian Board of Publication (1997-2003). She has earned a Certificate in Transitional Ministry from the Interim Ministry Network and a Certificate in Leadership and Church Management from Whitworth College.
Sandy has pastored congregations in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Washington. Rev. Messick was also the Regional Minister and President of the Northwest Regional Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) from June of 2009 through December of 2019 when the Northwest and Montana Regions merged.
Rev. Derek Penwell
Senior Pastor, Douglass Boulevard Christian Church (DOC), Louisville, KY and Author
Rev. Penwell is an author, speaker, pastor, and activist. He is the senior pastor of Douglass Boulevard Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky and a lecturer at the University of Louisville in Religious Studies and Humanities. Derek has a Ph.D. in humanities from the University of Louisville, and is the author of articles ranging from church history to aesthetic theory and the tragic emotions.
