Great Is Your Faithfulness
“My soul is bereft of peace; I have forgotten what was happy.
And I say, “My hope is lost from the LORD.”
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
God’s mercies never come to an end.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
~Lamentations 3:20-23 NRSV
As a region made up of areas, states, congregations, generational members, and sojourners — our resilience, endurance, and creativity are born of a faithful God. From our oldest congregation (incorporated circa 1868) to our newest congregations-in-formation (2024, 2025), Disciples have been bolstered and inspired through their faith in knowing we are never alone. God is unwavering and constant, never not present and in our midst. God is faithful, always.
As we gather over this Assembly weekend we will find old and new ways to acknowledge the valleys and be grateful for the peaks we’ve conquered, find grounding in the present we are in, and explore opportunities of a Church to come.
We will be fortunate to have powerful speakers among us: Rev. Chris Dorsey, President and CEO of Disciples Home Missions (DHM), and Rev. Rebecca Hale, Executive Vice President of National Benevolent Association (NBA). Regional Minister Paul Allen will round out the assembly, preaching on Sunday morning for all congregations to hear.
We will do the business of the Church as we cover business items, and learn about the work and dreams of our teams, committees, and commissions. And, we will usher in a new slate of regional servant leaders as our Nominating Committee puts their heads and hands together to discern needs, to prayerfully consider the Spirit-gifts necessary to carry out these roles, and to match needs with gifted volunteers across our Region.
We will worship together, sing together, learn together, work together, and share stories and meals. We look forward to “being Church” in person and virtually, and we pray that our Assembly will be a joyful, hopeful event that empowers each of us to carry out our various ministries through worship, music, and laughter. Hope to see you there!

- Chris Snow: Disability and Accessibility
We will take this time to explore why it is important for churches to be mindful of issues of accessibility and also provide resources of some common areas we can improve accessibility in our property and ministries. Materials will be made available from Church Accessibility Audits, Event Planning Checklists, and Why this work is important. - Rebecca Hale: National Benevolent Association (NBA) and Silver Chalice [**]
Information will be shared about what Silver Chalice is and updates from NBA. - Rebecca Sumner: Trauma Informed Worship
Trauma feels big and intense, but it’s common. Research suggests most of us carry it: loss, shame, violence, spiritual harm, racism, medical crisis, long-term stress, vicarious trauma from helping work. Or maybe we just watched the news.
More and more we’re learning that trauma isn’t just something that happened to you. It’s something that keeps happening in you. It shapes how we hear scripture, respond to sermons, and experience hymns. In this interactive, reflective workshop, we’ll explore what trauma is, how it impacts us and others, and how churches can either wound or heal God’s beloved. Practical resources will empower your congregation to choose the healing path, so that Good News truly feels like good news.

Come to this workshop to learn how to change the culture of your church around planned gifts. You will learn how to encourage such gifts in effective, non-threatening, meaningful and uplifting ways. - Jennifer Jacobson: Report on Woman-to-Woman Worldwide trip to Kenya [**]
Jennifer will share the incredible stories of the hundreds of women she met in Nairobi with many humanitarian aid-oriented organizations before flying to Turkana County in Northern Kenya where climate change has intensified harsh conditions for everyone, the withdrawal of USAID has had immediate and catastrophic impact on the 300,000 refugees living in Kakuma, and ongoing civil wars have meant generations of refugees growing up in the camps with no hope of returning home and no path to citizenship in the country of their birth.
Included in the presentation will be wildlife pictures from the Great Rift Valley.
